- Eliminate Golf Yips - Los Angeles Sports Hypnosis & Hypnotherapy
Beat golf putting yips with Board Certified Sports Performance Hypnotherapist Brice Le Roux, a mental game specialist with a successful track record. ELIMINATE GOLF YIPS WITH SPORTS HYPNOSIS > Los Angeles Hypnotherapy Services - Sports Hypnosis - Eliminate Golf Yips With Sports Hypnosis Beat Golf Yips With The Help Of Sports Performance Hypnosis The new buzz word going around the subject of sports performance studies recently is "yips". Usually spoken as "the yips", this often crippling condition is affecting amateurs to seasoned pros, and more and more athletes are complaining about it. If you have the yips, is there anything you can do about it? Definition "Yips" is a term applied to a putting problem that afflicts some golfers. The term describes a nervous affliction in which the golfer cannot make short putts due to the inability to create a smooth putting stroke. It's usually felt by the golfer as a nerve-tingling experience in which he or she feels unable to be steady over the ball, particularly in his or her hands or wrists. Yips are an unvoluntary physical reaction resulting from a repressed emotional trauma; in other words, an "abreaction". Yips are different from anticipatory anxiety or fears since they are a visibly obvious occurrence. Athletes can observe the affliction while it occurs as an involuntary muscular response, and cannot deny that there is an issue. This condition has been called many different things: "Steve Blass Disease", "Steve Sax Syndrome", and "Knoblauch Disease", but it was brought to the forefront by pro golfer Tommy Amour in the late 1930’s. Tommy Amour suffered from uncontrollable flinches or twitches, and these were readily evident during his putting game. Many have tried to pinpoint the cause of this issue with no success. It was once thought that the yips were always associated with performance anxiety. However, it now appears that some people have yips that are caused by a focal dystonia, which is a neurological dysfunction affecting specific muscles. The Mayo Clinic, recognized as the best hospital in the nation for 2014-2015, recently confirmed that the yips are actually a psycho-neuromuscular affliction. Part of their suggested treatment includes the following: relaxation, visualization and positive thinking. Three proven and useful tools that I successfully use in my hypnotherapy practice to help clients who struggle with the yips. Relaxation Relaxing during an event can be challenging for an athlete. How can an athlete change their automated excitement (negative or positive) and achieve a more relaxed state during a perceived pressured play? That is exactly what a sports performance hypnotherapist can help with, by creating a paradoxical state where anxiety and relaxation cannot coexist. Sports Performance hypnotherapy can help form a new neural pathway for a new conditioned response. Visualization As a Sports Performance specialist, many athletes I see tell me they only envision negative outcomes of their performances. These images often become the ground for a self-fulfilling prophecy over time. Working with hypnosis to reprogram the subconscious mind in an attempt to rid it of the unwanted scenes and produce positive visualizations can greatly help an athlete change negative imagery. Positive Thinking How does an athlete keep composure if they believe they are down or going to lose even before the event? Sports Performance hypnotherapy helps athletes' mindset change from something that doesn’t work to something that does. By understanding the subconscious reasons that lie behind the yips, the sports hypnotherapist can link an athlete’s mental game with their physical attributes and create a successful outcome that couldn't be performed through regular coaching or training. Without a doubt, it is the mind that determines the outcome of our performance and behavior. Working with me, you will benefit from multiple psychological principles and cutting edge mental techniques specifically tailored for you and your sport. In-person office sessions are available Monday-Friday 9am-8pm. I also work with many athletes remotely via FaceTime or Zoom with great success. I normally take my athletes through a 5 to 10 session protocol. In that process, most importantly, we clear all of the mental baggage that interferes with achieving peak performance: useless limiting beliefs, faulty programs, old hurts/injuries, etc. In addition, the athlete learns: intention, self-empowerment, thought control, emotional mastery, self-hypnosis, and how to increase self-confidence. Those skills develop mental toughness and lead athletes to the gateway of "the zone". When we are through, the athlete is able to keep him/herself clear, continue to build confidence with these tools and apply it all to other areas of life. I am most proud that this training helps a lot of young athletes build solid life skills through sport. Call 424-645-7517 or send an email to arrange an appointment time. - Overcoming Negative Thinking - Los Angeles Hypnotherapy
Therapeutic Hypnosis gives you the ability to reach your goals by eliminating fears, anxiety and negative thinking. Call today for a free consultation! HYPNOTHERAPY FOR NEGATIVE THINKING > Los Angeles Hypnotherapy Services - Therapeutic Hypnosis for Negative Thinking & Chronic Anxiety How Hypnotherapy Can Help You Think Constructively We all know that we should think more positively or avoid too many negative thoughts, but it is notoriously difficult to stop. Overcritical thinking can be useful to help assess the possible pitfalls in a potential plan of action, but you need to be able to turn it on and off at will, or it will end up sabotaging your self-belief, your confidence, and eventually your achievements. Negative thoughts are not reserved for just a few people or situations – everyone is plagued by negative thoughts at some point in life. Worrying can actually be helpful when it spurs you to take action and solve a problem. But if you’re only preoccupied with "what ifs" and worst-case scenarios, worry becomes a problem. Unrelenting doubts can be paralyzing. They can sap your emotional energy, send your anxiety levels soaring, and interfere with your daily life. If you suffer from chronic anxiety and worries, chances are you look at the world in ways that make it seem more dangerous than it really is. For example, you may overestimate the possibility that things will turn out badly, jump immediately to worst-case scenarios, or treat every negative thought as if it were fact. You may also discredit your own ability to handle life’s problems, assuming you’ll fall apart at the first sign of trouble. These irrational, pessimistic attitudes are known as "cognitive distortions". Although cognitive distortions aren’t based on reality, they’re not easy to give up. Often, they’re part of a lifelong pattern of thinking that has become so automatic you’re not even completely aware of it. In order to break these bad thinking habits and stop the worry and anxiety they bring, you must start reprogramming your mind. Therapeutic hypnosis trains your brain to stay calm and let negative thoughts drift on by. Since it’s impossible to be anxious and relaxed at the same time, strengthening your body and mind’s relaxation response is an extremely powerful worry-busting tactic. Now, think for a minute how different would your life be if you always tried instead of always thinking the worst? If you went for everything within your reach and took those opportunities, instead of always imagining what could go wrong? Cognitive distortions that add to anxiety – Does any of these sound familiar? All-or-nothing thinking – Looking at things in black-or-white categories, with no middle ground. “If I fall short of perfection, I’m a total failure.” Overgeneralization – Generalizing from a single negative experience, expecting it to hold true forever. “I didn’t get hired for the job. I’ll never get any job.” The mental filter – Focusing on the negatives while filtering out all the positives. Noticing the one thing that went wrong, rather than all the things that went right. Diminishing the positive – Coming up with reasons why positive events don’t count. “I did well on the presentation, but that was just dumb luck.” Jumping to conclusions – Making negative interpretations without actual evidence. You act like a mind reader, “I can tell she secretly hates me.” Catastrophizing – Expecting the worst-case scenario to happen. “The pilot said we’re in for some turbulence. The plane’s going to crash!” Emotional reasoning – Believing that the way you feel reflects reality. “I feel frightened right now. That must mean I’m in real physical danger.” 'Shoulds’ and ‘should-nots’ – Holding yourself to a strict list of what you should and shouldn’t do and beating yourself up if you break any of the rules Personalization – Assuming responsibility for things that are outside your control. “It’s my fault my son got in an accident. I should have warned him to drive carefully in the rain.” Get in touch The Change Method offers a powerful combination of therapeutic hypnosis and state-of-the-art mental coaching techniques to help you stop negative thinking. ANXIETY & STRESS RELIEF HYPNOTHERAPY > Hypnotherapy Los Angeles - Overcome Anxiety And Panic Attacks With The Help Of Therapeutic Hypnosis Hypnotherapy For Anxiety & Stress Management If you suffer from severe stress and anxiety, you know how debilitating the feeling can be. Overwhelming stress and anxiety can literally stop you from living the kind of life you want to live — from being the person you want and are meant to be. That’s because uncontrolled anxiety will always override rational thought, leaving you to feel as though you have no control in your life. You may have noticed that once you have started to continuously experience anxiety, your mind starts anticipating it — so much so that the initial experience becomes intensified. Unfortunately, the more you anticipate something bad happening, the more you bring on the possibility of experiencing another high anxiety situation or panic attack. These scenarios can often cause your self-confidence and self-esteem to drop as you begin to feel bad about yourself. Common anxiety symptoms include, but are not limited to: Excessive overwhelming negative thoughts Difficulty concentrating Heart palpitations Trembling Sweaty palms Sudden changes in body temperature Blushing Allergies Body pain or stiffness Dizziness The urgent need to go to the bathroom Nausea Insomnia Grinding teeth Anxiety does not define who you are. It is a learned mental state that you have the ability to gradually unlearn and desensitize. Therapeutic hypnosis gives you the ability to take control back by taking control of your thoughts and emotions so that everyday stressful triggers no longer call for negative reactions. Through hypnotherapy, you will learn how to use the power of your own mind to reframe the way you process information and feel calmly detached in any situation, professional or personal. Professional Life Imagine things getting a little crazy at work, but you stay cool, calm, and collected — able to think clearly and problem-solve. You respond positively, even when unexpected situations arise. Change how you react to external stimuli by choosing to be in your power, free from external circumstances and undue influences. Your colleagues and your boss will notice the difference. Social Life Socially anxious? Begin to seek and experience wonderful opportunities in social settings, whether it be out with friends, networking, or at a business conference. - Eliminate Creative Blocks - Los Angeles Hypnosis & Hypnotherapy
Overcome creative blocks with Board Certified Hypnotherapist Brice Le Roux, a creativity specialist with a successful track record. Call today! HYPNOTHERAPY FOR CREATIVE BLOCKS > Los Angeles Hypnotherapy Services - Therapeutic Hypnosis for Creative Blocks & Anxiety Relief Overcome Creative Blocks With The Help Of Therapeutic Hypnosis Creative block is one of those things that gets worse the more you think about it. However much you try and forget the idea of the block, it still lurks there, increasing stress and anxiety and making it even less likely that creativity will come. Hypnotherapy can stop you putting the wrong sort of pressure on yourself and free up your creativity so that creative blocks simply melt away, leaving the ideas free to flow. Everyone has creativity built into them. Of course some people naturally have more flair for coming up with new ideas than others, but creativity is part of our inalienable genetic inheritance as humans. When you are truly creative, ideas just seem to flow. It’s an incredible experience, just like the experience of not finding any creativity at all. Not only is it stressful when that happens, but you can easily start to doubt yourself. That in itself will keep your creativity from flowing like it used to. The biggest block to being more creative is not so much lack of creative talent as trying too hard. Telling yourself to 'think creatively' – like other injunctions that you might beat yourself up with – is likely to send you into the doldrums straight away. And leave you right out of ideas. The fact is, creativity is a subconscious process. It goes on in the back of your mind, and you get the best results when you create the right environment for it to happen. Which means getting out of the way. Keeping your conscious mind, with all its analyzing and planning, out of it. Therapeutic Hypnosis helps with overcoming creative blocks because it works at a subconscious level. After all, that's where your best ideas come from, so it makes sense to use an approach that works on the same level. The deep relaxation Therapeutic Hypnosis brings, coupled with your own subconscious abilities, can effortlessly and lastingly restart your suppressed creative process. Get in touch The Change Method offers a powerful combination of therapeutic hypnosis and state-of-the-art mental coaching techniques to help you eliminate creative blocks. - Sports Performance Hypnosis - Los Angeles Hypnotherapy
Improve your mental game with Board Certified Sports Performance Hypnotherapist Brice Le Roux, a peak performance specialist with a successful track record. SPORTS PERFORMANCE HYPNOTHERAPY > Los Angeles Hypnotherapy Services - Sports Hypnosis - Peak Performance - Mental Game Improvement Improve Your Performance and Achieve Your Highest Potential What separates a good performer from a true champion? The mind. You can formulate a plan to be at your very best, train hard, eat right. However, without the right mindset, you will never perform to your true potential. If you have doubt or fear or are stuck in a slump, Sports Hypnosis can help you quickly eliminate the mental blocks that are holding you back and let you (re-)discover your best athlete. Achieving your best with sports hypnosis Did you know that many athletes use sports hypnosis to gain that extra "edge" in their athletic performance? Often the results are so impressive that coaches themselves are thrilled. Top athletes competing in college sports and at the professional level have all accepted the power of hypnosis to enable the competitors to perform at a higher level and to fully achieve their athletic potential. Today, many Olympic athletes in varied sports regularly incorporate hypnotic techniques into their training programs. At the 2008 and 2012 Olympics, the shooters who won Gold Medals for the U.S. all worked with a hypnotherapist. Tiger Woods began seeing Jay Brunza at the age of 13 for hypnosis and mental training. Phil Mickelson was extensively trained by mental coach and hypnotherapist Dean Reinmuth. In baseball, Nolan Ryan, George Brett, Maury Wills, Don Sutton, Mark McGwire all used sports hypnosis to be able to relax and maximize their focus during their games. The role of the mind in achieving excellence Every one knows that physical training is a key to performing well in sports. However, it is now becoming more and more accepted that your state of mind is of primary importance to excel and fulfill your natural potential in your sport of choice. Some experts in the field of sports training have even gone so far as to assert that for a top athlete, 80% of his success is determined by the state of his mind. Even for the weekend athlete, visualization and mental rehearsal are key elements in getting you to perform at your best. The great Jack Nicklaus said: “I never hit a shot, not even in practice, without having a very sharp, in-focus picture of it in my head. First I see the ball where I want it to finish, nice and white and sitting up high on the bright green grass. Then the scene quickly changes, and I see the ball going there; its path, trajectory, and shape, even its behavior on landing. Then there is a sort of fade-out, and the next scene shows me making the kind of swing that will turn the previous images into reality.” With hypnosis, the resulting effects from the use of these techniques are tremendously amplified. During the mental rehearsal of a peak performance, the nervous system performs as if the physical activity was actually taking place. In addition, rehearsal and visualizations of an excellent performance convince the subconscious mind that the actual event can also be accomplished at that high level, and thus creates within the athlete's mind the confidence that is essential for a peak performance. Not only can the power of hypnosis be utilized by the world’s top athletes, but it can be employed by anyone seeking to improve their performance at any level of competition. Sports hypnosis sessions enable to completely change limiting beliefs and turn off self-talk and negative thoughts that block you from performing at your ultimate peak. In addition, an occasional poor performance will not make you subject to any feelings of frustration or discouragement. Last but not least, competing can create tremendous anxiety and fear of failure, which will all be mitigated by sports hypnosis. You will learn how to create mind states that enable you to avoid being affected by any mental negative factors during your preparation and training for the event, and during the actual sport event itself. - Ten Daily Routines Overachieving People Have - Los Angeles Hypnosis
Regardless of their skills or jobs, overachievers share many of the same systematic routines. Here are ten things they all do and repeat daily and quietly. 10 Daily Routines Overachieving People All Have If success is usually pretty noisy, the actual process of achieving it, on the other hand, is way more discreet. But it’s this process that happens behind the scenes that makes all the difference. Regardless of their skills or jobs, overachievers share many of the same systematic daily routines. Here are ten things they all do and repeat daily and quietly. 1. Consistent morning rituals Starting the day in a calm, mindful state, makes it easier to focus and get the right things done. But when we wake up and stress is already upon us – phones ringing, emails dinging – we spend the whole day reacting, instead of being in control. We’re simply responding to what gets thrown at us and are not working on your priorities – the things that drive our personal success. Try to have the first hour of your day vary as little as possible. A trusted routine can be extremely effective in helping you feel in a control and non-reactive state. This will considerably reduce anxiety and stress, and therefore makes you more mindful and competent. — Bottom line: How you start the day has an enormous effect on your overall effectiveness. 2. No needless tasks If you always wonder why it is so hard to get everything done, it is probably that you're doing too many of the wrong things. If you want to be more successful, don’t ask how to make something more efficient until you’ve first wondered if you actually need to do this at all. Time management and productivity methods often focus only on how to get things done quickly, when the vast majority of things people end up doing quickly should not be done at all. — Bottom line: Do your best to focus on what is truly important, and not much else. 3. Procrastination is not an option You can’t change anything or make any sort of progress without taking action. There’s a huge difference between knowing how to do something and actually doing it. Ask all the most successful people you know: knowledge and intelligence are both useless without action. Golden rule: a decent plan executed today is better than a perfect plan executed someday. Overachieving people don’t wait for the “right time” or the “right (impossible!) circumstances”, because they know these expectations are based on nothing more than fear. — Bottom line: Take action here and now – because that’s where real progress happens. 4. Challenge your comfort zone Getting into a routine is great. Flow is great, too. But neither is the best way to learn. It needs to be uncomfortable sometimes. That’s how our brain grows. We learn better when we’re at the edge of our ability. No struggle, no growth. You want to stretch yourself a few minutes everyday, making mistakes, learning from them and then stretch yourself even farther. — Bottom line: It’s better to spend a high-quality ten minutes growing than it is to spend a mediocre hour running in place. 5. Place intuition first Intuition is never wise to ignore, as it comes straight from your subconscious mind and is derived from your previous life experiences. If everyone else is telling you "yes" but your gut is telling you otherwise, it’s usually for a good reason. When faced with difficult decisions, overachieving people seek out all the information they can find, become as knowledgeable as they possibly can, but most of all know that trusting their intuition means trusting their true self. — Bottom line: The more you trust your true self, the more control you have of making your personal life goals come true. 6. Focus on the positive A recent scientific study showed that optimistic salespeople outsold their pessimistic counterparts by over 50%. Regardless of our skills or jobs, it turns out that our minds are programmed to perform at their best when they are positive. It doesn't mean that we can never get upset, but our effectiveness in all walks of life will be higher if we’re able to mindfully let go of negative emotions, rather than constantly dwelling on them. — Bottom line: Think a little less about managing your problems and a little more about managing your mindset. 7. Create visual reminders You want to build a more profitable business, but when you’re caught up in the daily grind, it’s easy to just do what’s familiar instead of what’s required for growth. Few good things come easy, and when the going gets tough we often take the easy way out – even though the easy way takes us the wrong way. To combat this, successful people create tangible reminders that pull them back from their weak impulses. For example, a lot of overachieving people I know fill their desk with family photos, both because they love looking at them and because, when work gets really tough, these photos remind them of the people they are ultimately working for. — Bottom line: When you're likely to give in to impulses that take you farther away from your goals, use visual reminders of those goals to interrupt the impulse and keep you on track. 8. Keep track of what matters If you want to get somewhere in life, you need a map. Overachieving people always track their progress and mistakes in some kinds of notebooks, where they capture important thoughts and track where they've been and where they intend to go next. — Bottom line: Notebooks are one of the most underused, yet incredibly effective tools available to each of us. 9. Find mentors to learn from Yes, 10,000 hours of diligent practice can make you an expert, but what makes you dedicate 10,000 hours to something in the first place? The answer is having a great mentor. Or two. If you study the lives of overachieving people, it becomes obvious that most historical performers in all fields – athletes, entrepreneurs, artists, etc. – had mentors, coaches or role models who made the activity of practice worthwhile and rewarding. "They did it. I can do it too." It may sound overly simplistic, but spending time studying people who are great at what you want to achieve can unlock a tremendous amount of motivation. — Bottom line: Regardless of what you’re trying to achieve, you cannot do it alone. 10. Welcome criticical feedback Follow in the footsteps of overachieving people by learning to effectively process the criticism you receive. Doing something that’s out of the ordinary is a huge part of being successful. It also opens the door to criticism. Listen to it, assess it, let go of the negative one – which is at best a failure to understand, when it's not plain jealousy – and always take into consideration the constructive one. Only solicit feedback from people whose opinions you value – and, if possible, people who have been where you want to go. — Bottom line: Be gracious when receiving feedback; when you are, the people around you will be more likely to give you their support and honest insight in the future. Last but not least... Admit that you can be mistaken. That you may need help sometime. That you owe your success to others too. There are no absolutes in this world. We are all just exploring here. Learn from everyone and don’t forget to have a good time along the way. That’s what overachieving people do. If you only remember two words from this whole text, let them be: "Stretch" and "Observe". Stretch: as in… stretch yourself. Always push yourself to the edge of your ability, so you can expand it and grow. Observe: as in… observe those who are more skilled than you, so you can emulate them. - Golf: How Visualizing The Positive Can Change Your Game
Legendary golfer Ben Hogan used to say that he could see his next shot completed before he even started the club moving forward. SPORTS PERFORMANCE HYPNOSIS FOR GOLF > Los Angeles Expert Hypnosis For Golf Performance - Yips, Mental Game, Fear Of Success, Concentration & Focus In The Zone: How Visualizing The Positive Can Change Your Game Legendary golfer Ben Hogan used to say when he was playing at his best that he could often see his next shot completed before he even started the club moving forward. Golf psychologist Al Smith said what Hogan was describing is a simple case of self-hypnosis and visualization. "When athletes talk about being in the zone, often what is happening is a form of self-hypnosis," said Smith, who taught golf at Sunset Hills Country Club and Saticoy Regional Golf Course in the early 1970s. "When you get in the zone as an athlete, it's really about eliminating all the negative thoughts and visualizing the positive." To help athletes and even non-athletes reach a state where they can control their mind and reach peak performances, Smith has written a book titled "The Winning Zone." The book explains in simple language how the conscious and subconscious minds work and how they can be trained to allow anybody to accomplish anything from quitting smoking to lowering his or her golf score. "When our subconscious mind sends a message to our muscles, it travels 10 times faster than a message coming from our conscious mind," writes Smith. "For an athlete, the zone is a mental state where our subconscious takes control of an activity. In that state, the ego and the conscious mind are prevented from interfering, so there are no conscious pressures sabotaging a person's success." Most golfers have had a time when they are playing well above "normal", hitting great shot after great shot. But when the golfer starts to think about how well he or she is playing, that is the point where the conscious mind starts to interfere and often sabotages the player's game. "When you start to think, your muscles tighten and you can't perform as well," Smith said. "The goal is to take the conscious mind out of the task and let the subconscious take over." Smith has worked with athletes of all skill levels to help them perform better through a better mastery of their mind. It started with his students at Sunset Hills, and through word of mouth, other athletes, including professional golfer Al Geiberger, started coming to Smith for help with the mental part of their sport. Smith feels that visualization can help any person achieve their goals. The subconscious mind being unable to differentiate between something real and what is imagined, the more vivid the imagination, the more real the subconscious mind thinks the visualized scene/picture is. Smith is convinced that if an athlete spends enough time visualizing success on the field, and if he or she really makes the thought as vivid as possible, eventually the subconscious will believe it is reality and allow the body to perform the skill. Smith's youngest son Stephen was a bowler with a 120 average. Smith sat his son down and made him watch hours of videotape of top bowler Marshall Holman. He had his son focus on Homan's delivery and had him visualize making the same approach and motion when he bowled. "A week and a half later, Stephen was bowling in the 185 range," Smith said. "I had so many people tell me how much they thought he looked like Marshall Holman. "At the Ventura County Junior Golf Championships, I had my son Al Jr. sit and look at the championship plaque, imagining his name on the plaque as the winner. He won the tournament." Smith said the key to visualization is getting as many senses involved as possible. He said a golfer should not stop at thinking about making a putt. He should imagine the sound of the ball striking the putter, rolling along the grass and falling into the cup. "The more real the visualization and the more the subconscious mind believes it," Smith said. "Most people can use self-hypnosis and visualization to improve their lives. If you really believe in the ultimate outcome, there's a great chance for success," Smith said. Without a doubt, it is the mind that determines the outcome of our performance and behavior. Working with me, you will benefit from multiple psychological principles and cutting edge mental techniques tailored specifically for golfers. In-person office sessions are available Monday-Saturday 9am to 8pm. I also do numerous hypnosis sessions for athletes worldwide by Skype with great success. Call (424) 645-7517 today or send an email to arrange an appointment time. “I never hit a shot, not even in practice, without having a very sharp picture of it in my head. First I see the ball where I want it to finish, sitting up high on the bright green grass. Then the scene quickly changes, and I see the ball going there; its path, trajectory, even its behavior on landing. Then there is a sort of fade-out, and the next scene shows me making the kind of swing that will turn the previous images into reality.” – Jack Nicklaus Related Tags: Sports Hypnosis in Los Angeles, Peak Performance, Stress, Focus, Self-Confidence, Positive Thinking, Self-Hypnosis for Golf, Best Hypnotherapist in Santa Monica, Beat your fear of success, Eliminate Yips, Improve mental game
